3 All intellectual property rights for submitted designs remain the property of the competition entrant. However, it is an implicit condition of submission that the organisers retain the unrestricted right to display at public shows and/or to publish substantial extracts from entries without payment of display fees, reproduction fees, or author's fees.

4 Entries will be judged against the concept theme taking account of the following:
• Compliance with brief
• Compliance with entrant's description of the boat and its features
• Originality
• Aesthetics and visual appeal

Entries to the ‘Concept and Design’ category will also be judged against the following:
• Fitness for purpose
• Expectation that the design could meet relevant regulations
• Practical to manufacture
• Practical to use
• Market potential

Criteria elements in all cases will be weighted to reflect importance.

Each entry shall be in English and shall contain the following:
• A fully completed entry form
• An elevation and at least one section of the boat
• A general arrangement of the boat showing clearly its layout
• A deck plan of the boat
• the craft's length, beam and draught
• total number of people (passengers and crew) to be carried

Entries to the ‘Concept and Design’ category shall also provide estimates of the following:
• the craft's fully loaded and light weight (mass)
• the craft's stability and buoyancy characteristics to show that it is adequate for its intended purpose
• for powered craft, max engine power and expected maximum speed

Entries to all categories shall include a description of the entry with a clear explanation of the entry concept and its virtues, to a maximum of 1000 words.

Additional drawings, illustrations and pictures and short notes explaining them may be sent to clarify specific details of the entry but these should be kept to a minimum.

6 Entries will be accepted in the following formats:

a In paper format by post where all plans of the boat should be presented on white paper, which should be sized no smaller than A4 and no larger than A3. The entry form and description may be hand-written but all text should be in black ink and be easily read. Illegible entries will be rejected.

b In electronic format attached to an email sent as specified in the entry procedure given at www.conceptboat.com or from enquiries@conceptboat.com

c By CD-Rom by post.

Drawings should include a scale or be dimensioned.  Colour or black and white presentation may be used.   Clarity should be a priority as entries may be resized to A4 before being sent to the Competition Judges.

All entries should consist of a maximum of 15 A4 or A4-equivalent sized pages.

A4 is 297mm x 210mm.

7 Entrants may submit more than one design but each must have a separate entry form.

8 Where multiple entries have been entered by an individual or group, each must be substantially different from the others and not minor modifications of a parent design (variations on a theme should be shown within one submission).

9 All pages of the entry shall be clearly marked with the entrant(s)'s name.

10 For the purposes of the Competition, ‘boat’ is defined as any craft used or capable of being used as a means of transportation on water.   Designs at the prototype stage may be entered but existing boat designs already in production are not eligible.

11 Automatic disqualification will result if judges consider that an entry substantially mimics, or replicates exactly, an existing design, or another entry submitted for this competition.

12 Director shareholders of Concept Boat Ltd., and members of the Panel of Judges are not eligible to enter.

13 Submissions will only be returned to those entrants who request their return in writing with the submission and not until the material has fulfilled the full requirements of the Concept Boat 2006 competition organisers. The organisers cannot be held liable for the safekeeping of submissions and entrants are urged to keep copies of their work.

14 The Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
